Education in Japan

Usually, Japanese children go to

elementary school
junior high school
high school

but after high shool, people get in college, work, university... It depends on their mind.

when I was elementary school student, I went to the school on foot. Class begins from 8:30 and eat school lunch at there. I studied math, science, history, geography, Japanese and so on.(except English) Some of my friends go to cram school and tried to get in private junior high school because their parents think getting in private junior high school is better than public junior high school.

after that, I get in public junior high school. school begins same time and finished until 4pm. But many students join a club so they will stay until 6pm. We begins to start English from the time.

In public junior high school, education is not good very much. So almost every students go to cram school after their junior high school. Actually, I went to cram school every two days. It was so hard for me.

compulsory education is finished in public junior hith school. But most of students get in high school because if they don't get in ,it is so hard for them to get good jobs. From high school, students can get jobs.


The education style is almost same in elementary, junior high and high school)

there is a teacher in front of students and he or she will speak whole of the class. Students cannot say anything without permittion. If they really want to ask question, they should raise hand of them. Moreover, students must not be lasy. They sit on their chair in order and don't chatting with their friends. Teachers have much much power against students. It is so easy for them to maintain students. But sometimes teachers said wrong things, students cannot reject it. So stuednts talk to their parents and their parents go to the school and complain about it.( sometimes)

Besides many junior high school and high school have uniform, If students wear them lasy, teachers will be angry.

I was really suprised at one thing. In America, students use calculater for math. BUT in Japan, if you use calculater, teachers will be angry because it is seemed as cheating.

dumpling（餃子）

My friend asked me how to make dumpling. So, I will write how to make it.

First, you should cut Shiitake mushroom, cabbage and ginger and make them small pieces. Then, mixed with ground meat(beef or pork)



















Second, prepare skin of dumpling.(you can get Asian store) If you cannot find you can ask. In Japanese character, 「餃子の皮」. if you see the name, that is the skin of dumpling.

Put these stuff on the center of the skin. Then, you should dab water around the skin and stick it.




















Third, make many dumplings. Then, put sesame oil on the pan.



































I can write everything, so I will write how to make it next time again...

Kegon fall (華厳滝） Utsunomiya in Japan

We went to see Kegon fall after eat lunch.

Kegon fall is not so big as Niagara fall or other big fall. But the sight is very beautiful. As you can see the fall is surronded by nature and there is very nice looks.

This is my best shot.



By the way, I thought I will travel other countries but I change my mind. I will go to China just it and travel around Japan. There are many curoius places in Japan and I will write about them with picture. You should check them!!

I just want to talk about my mind today.........

I traveled around the world. There are many countries. But if I want to have friends who are in other countries( I mean except Japan) I have to know the personality of the people.

When I was in America I really really think about what people's mind is. I always think about my friend mind, taste, hobby,etc....... American culture is much different from our culture, so it was so hard for me to understand it.

Japanese are not good at expressing their feeling. So we try to understand our feeling by observing our attitude or face and so on. But in America, if I can't express my mind they think I am not intereste in theire words... So I tried to express my feeling so much. It was very hard for me to do it because I wasn't used to expressing my mind.

Then, I tried to express my mind but it was not enough. American is also shy to contact with foreigner(especially Asian) so even though I tried to express my feeling and talk to them they sometimes escape from me.

When that occured I was always sad but I didn't want to give up. So I try to make some food and call people even if they refuse to come first. I called the people several times.

Moreover, I try to understand individual character. Some of them like baseball teams, other people like to see Origami. But they don't say to me. People don't talk about their mind so I have to know without noticing. besides I give them the things which they like and the attitude express my feeling.

It was so hard for me to do that because even if I do that they don't know my effort. I always think about my friends and I was tireds. I sometimes think "I really care about my friends, but they seems not care about me. It is natural but I am tired.....Is it valuable act for me or not?.........."

Actually when I was in America last year I vomited 4times because of stress......

I was not good at speaking English and I am very small compared with American. I think American like big but I am small so people try to speak big persons. I know they don't ignore me. But some people told me that is American's tendency....

Therefore, I should have broaded mind and be a man. I mean I have to have strength by myself....

Sometimes people think staying aboroad is fun and intersting. But you should know it is so hard to get along with foreingers who have culture which is much different from yours. Sometimes, the people never went to other countries so they don't know how hard it is.

For example

When I was in America, my friends(Japanese) said to me it is hard for him to figure out American's face. So he sometimes ignore his friends becasue he didn't notice. And after that, the American said to me these Japanese don't like her....

Maybe American knows it is hard for them to figure out Asian's face. Chinese or Korean or Japanese. It is same things.

So I tried to remember their face and name. I always check facebook in my room in order to remember their face and name. Once I wacthed facebook for two hours to remember my friends face and name.

It was so hard for me to understand foreinger's mind and make goods friends who really trust me.I mean who will contact to me even though I back to Japan. It is not so hard to make friends who are just acquaintances. Then, sometimes, people failed it and gather people who are from same countries.

I didn't want to do that so I tried to make everyday. I think I did it and make many friends. You should know staying and making friends in foreign countries is so hard.

lunch (after Nikkou)

After I went to Nikkou, I went to eat lunch.

Maybe some people know Japanese food, but I ate traditional Japanese food. These food is made by the top clear layer of Tofu. It is very health and there are almost no calorie. Of course, the food is so delicious!!!!!! :)))))))))The food's name is "Yuba" 湯葉.


















Then, I ate many things. The food which is below is icecream. But the taste is greentea. Actually, there are many kinds of greentea but that is Mattya　抹茶.



there are much more kinds of foods in Japan. Japanese food is more health than any other countries foods. When I was in America I cook a lot but there are not many food which can be used for Japanese food....I have to learn how to make Japanese food and I will make traditional Japanese food. It is so healthy!!!!

Nikkou Toshogu (日光東照宮） In Japan

I went to nikkou last week. That is one of the world heritages in the world.


















In the heritage, there are a lot of beautiful places. My best place is the street. There many huge Japanese cedar around the street and stone lanterns. It makes the road very beautiful.



Japanese beauty is not showy. We call the beauty "Wabi, Sabi" わびさび. There is no word in English. But if I have to express the view, I think the beauty is called "elegant simplicity". Unfortunately, people who don't live in Japan can't understand what I mean, but if you see the many picture's of them you might notice the view.

Utsunomiya (宇都宮) in Japan

I went to Utsunomiya yesterday. Now, I am so tired so I just put some pictures of them. I will write about it later.
