Nikkou Toshogu (日光東照宮) In Japan

I went to nikkou last week. That is one of the world heritages in the world.

In the heritage, there are a lot of beautiful places. My best place is the street. There many huge Japanese cedar around the street and stone lanterns. It makes the road very beautiful.

Japanese beauty is not showy. We call the beauty "Wabi, Sabi" わびさび. There is no word in English. But if I have to express the view, I think the beauty is called "elegant simplicity". Unfortunately, people who don't live in Japan can't understand what I mean, but if you see the many picture's of them you might notice the view.

I know I don't live in Japan, but I was there for 10 days last summer with the Freeman trip program. It is beautiful, and it's a beauty that's totally different from America's (or anywhere else's) style of beauty. Just being there, walking around, looking around you, you feel very peaceful. One of my favorite parts were the bamboo forests.
